Health benefits of drinking The Botanical Brothers' Rooibos, Apple and Apricot Sangria Iced or Hot Tea

  1. Improved digestive health - Diced apples are rich in fibre, particularly pectin, which supports digestive health by promoting regular bowel movements and improving gut flora. Apples are also high in antioxidants, like vitamin C and flavonoids, which boost immune function and protect cells from oxidative stress. They help regulate blood sugar levels and promote heart health by reducing cholesterol.
  2. Boost immunity - Diced apricots are packed with vitamins A and C, which support eye health, boost immunity, and promote skin health. They are a good source of fiber, which aids in digestion and helps regulate cholesterol levels. Apricots also contain antioxidants like beta-carotene, which protect against oxidative stress and inflammation.
  3. Anti-inflammatory - Calendula is known for its powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. It supports digestive health by reducing inflammation in the gut and aiding in the treatment of ulcers and gastritis. Calendula also boosts the immune system, helping to fight off infections and soothe sore throats.
  4. Antioxidants - Elderberries are rich in antioxidants, particularly anthocyanins, which boost immune function and help fight off colds and flu. They have antiviral properties and can reduce the duration of respiratory infections. Elderberries also have anti-inflammatory effects, which support heart health and help reduce pain and swelling.
  5. Heart health - Hibiscus flowers are known for their ability to support heart health by lowering blood pressure and cholesterol levels. They are rich in antioxidants, including vitamin C and anthocyanins, which help fight free radicals and reduce inflammation. Hibiscus also promotes digestive health and may aid in weight management by boosting metabolism.
  6. Improve cholesterol levels - Rooibos is a caffeine-free herbal tea with high levels of antioxidants, including aspalathin, which helps fight oxidative stress and inflammation. It supports heart health by improving cholesterol levels and reducing blood pressure. Rooibos is also known for its anti-inflammatory properties, which may help alleviate joint pain and support skin health by reducing eczema and acne.
  7. Vitamin C - Orange peel is packed with vitamin C and flavonoids, which boost immune function, improve skin health, and protect against oxidative stress. Steps to making the perfect iced tea

  1. Choose Your Tea. Black, green, white, herbal, or fruit teas all make excellent iced teas. Select your tea based on your preferred flavour profile.
  2. Measure the Tea. Use double the amount of tea leaves or bags compared to what you’d use for hot tea. This ensures the tea remains flavourful after being diluted with ice.
Example: Use 2 tea bags or 2 teaspoons of loose leaf tea per 8 ounces of water.
  3. Boil Water. Bring water to a boil, then let it cool slightly for green or white teas (around 170°F-185°F), or use fully boiling water (about 200°F-212°F) for black and herbal teas.
  4. Steep the Tea. Pour the hot water over the leaves and steep for the recommended time of 5-7 minutes. Avoid over-steeping to prevent bitterness.
  5. Sweeten (Optional). If you want a sweetened iced tea, add sugar, honey, or your preferred sweetener while the tea is hot so it dissolves easily. You can also use simple syrup (equal parts sugar and water, boiled until dissolved) for an even blend.
  6. Cool the Tea. After steeping, remove the tea bags or strain the loose leaves. Allow the tea to cool to room temperature. For a faster cooling process, place the tea in the refrigerator.
  7. Serve Over Ice. Fill a glass with ice cubes, then pour the cooled tea over the ice. If using room-temperature tea, the ice will help chill it quickly without diluting the flavour.
  8. Garnish (Optional). Enhance your iced tea with fresh lemon slices, mint leaves, or fruit like berries or peach slices for added flavour.
  9. Adjust and Enjoy. Taste your iced tea and adjust the sweetness or add extra ice if needed. Serve immediately for a refreshing, flavourful iced tea.
