About our teas

What makes The Botanical Brothers teas different?

Our blends are flavour-led and functionally balanced. We focus on organic botanicals, mushrooms, roots, and spices that taste genuinely good — without artificial flavourings or overpowering herbal notes. We also work closely with local Yarra Valley growers including Warratina Lavender Farm, CherryHill Orchard, and Wandin Yallock Farms, meaning many of our ingredients are sourced within the region we call home.

What types of tea does The Botanical Brothers sell?

We sell black tea, green tea, herbal tea, chai, oolong, white tea, rooibos, fruity tea, health and wellness blends, and a dedicated Australian native tea collection. We also stock award-winning hand-crafted teas from AMBA Estate in Sri Lanka, including hand-rolled varieties and white tea.

Are your teas organic?

We prioritise organic and responsibly sourced ingredients wherever possible, working with suppliers who share our commitment to quality and sustainability. Where an ingredient is not certified organic, we ensure it is ethically and sustainably grown.

Do your teas contain artificial flavours?

Never. We rely entirely on real botanicals, spices, mushrooms, and natural ingredients for flavour. There are no artificial flavourings or additives in any of our blends.

Are your teas caffeine-free?

Most of our herbal and botanical blends are naturally caffeine-free. Products containing black tea, green tea, or tea extracts will have caffeine content clearly listed on the packaging. If you are sensitive to caffeine, look for our herbal, rooibos, and mushroom blend ranges.

Do your teabags contain microplastics?

Our tea bags are made of biodegradable plastic free materials and are ultrasonically sealed, so it eliminates any glues or chemicals. It uses SoilOn which is a plant-based material made primarily from corn starch. It is 100% biodegradable and compostable, breaking down completely in soil without releasing harmful chemicals.

Are your products vegan?

Most of our teas and botanical blends are plant-based and vegan-friendly. Some latte blends may contain milk powder — always check the ingredient list on the packaging if this is a concern.

Do your teas contain added sugar?

Our loose leaf teas contain no added sugar. Some latte blends may include natural sweeteners such as raw sugar or monk fruit, which are clearly listed on the label.

Do your mushroom blends taste like mushrooms?

No. Our mushroom lattes and blends are carefully crafted so the flavour is smooth, roasted, and balanced. You get the functional benefits of lion's mane, reishi, chaga, maitake, and shiitake without an overt mushroom taste.

Are your teas suitable during pregnancy?

While many herbs are gentle, we always recommend consulting a healthcare professional before consuming herbal blends during pregnancy, breastfeeding, or if you have an existing medical condition. Ingredient lists are available on all product pages.

Does The Botanical Brothers use Australian native ingredients?

Yes. We have a dedicated Australian native tea collection featuring botanicals indigenous to this country. Several of our blends incorporate native ingredients such as Strawberry Gum (Eucalyptus olida), desert finger lime, and Quandong. We also work with local Yarra Valley producers to source regionally grown botanicals wherever possible.

Are your pouches recyclable?

Yes. Our pouches break down during the recycling process. We use low-plastic, recyclable or compostable materials wherever possible and are continually working to improve our packaging sustainability.

Are your products compliant with Australian food safety standards?

Yes. All products are labelled and produced in accordance with current Australian food safety and regulatory requirements.

Brewing and storage

How should I brew The Botanical Brothers teas?

For loose leaf teas: use 1 teaspoon per cup (250ml) and steep in freshly boiled water for 3–5 minutes, then strain. Adjust steeping time to suit your preferred strength. For latte blends: mix with hot milk or your preferred plant-based milk and stir well. Each product page includes specific brewing recommendations for that blend.

Can I cold brew your teas?

Yes. Many of our herbal and black tea blends work beautifully as cold brews. Add your tea to cold filtered water and steep in the fridge for 6–12 hours, then strain and serve over ice. Cold brewing produces a naturally smooth, less bitter flavour.

How many cups do I get per pouch?

On average, a 100g pouch yields approximately 30–40 cups when using one teaspoon (around 2–3g) per 250ml serve. This varies slightly depending on the density of the blend and how strong you prefer your tea.

How should I store my tea?

Store your tea in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, moisture, and strong odours. Reseal pouches tightly after each use to preserve freshness and aroma. Avoid storing near spices or coffee as loose leaf tea readily absorbs surrounding smells.

How strong are your blends?

Our teas are naturally balanced rather than overpowering. You can easily adjust strength by increasing steep time or adding an extra teaspoon of loose leaf. We recommend starting with the suggested brew guide and adjusting to your personal taste.

Can I drink your teas every day?

Yes. Our blends are designed for regular enjoyment as part of a daily ritual. If you have a specific health condition or take medication, we recommend checking the ingredient list or consulting a healthcare professional before regular use of any herbal blend.
